International Season 1984/85, Part 9

June

Bulgaria followed up its win vs. France with an equally important win vs. Yugoslavia.
This was Bulgaria’s first match after the CSKA/Levski fight in the Cup final , which led to the disbanding of both clubs.
Levski pair of BorislavMikhailov and Plamen Nikolov played this match despite being suspended for “life”.
Argentina qualified for the World Cup after surviving a scare vs. Peru. The series with Peru featured Luis Reyna’s brutal marking of Maradona.
Brazil also qualified for the World Cuop, with Tele Santana back in charge. He called up many of the Spain ’82 veterans.
Italy, West Germany and England, along with hosts Mexico participated in the Ciudad de Mexico Cup/ Azteca 2000.
